CLiX is the Constraint Language in XML, used to constrain the content of XML documents. The CLiX language allows constraints to be described using a mixture of:
CLiX constraints can be used both to constraint documents internally and to execute inter-document checks between a number of documents.
Many types of constraints that relate distant parts of documents, or relate elements based on content cannot be expressed in most schema languages. Schemas also lack the facilities required to implement business-level constraints, such as the ability to script complex operations.
CLiX addresses all of these issues, operating as an additional layer beyond schema-based validation. CLiX is capable of accurately constraining documents with rich semantic meaning.
